The “Polish Spotlight” is a new strand of the Stephen Spender Prize for 2018, with entries in three categories: 18-and-under, 14-and-under and 10-and-under. You do not have to be fluent in Polish to enter the prize: it is open to all those interested in trying their hand at translation. Resources for teachers to introduce poetry translation as a classroom activity, and suggestions of Polish poems for translation, are available below.

Entry is free. The winner of each category will receive £100 and the opportunity to have their translation published in the Spender prize booklet.

The Polish Spotlight will be judged by literary translator Antonia Lloyd-Jones.

The Polish Spotlight prize is generously supported by the Rothschild Foundation.
