Poland and Hungary: Jewish Realities Compared
Conference to launch POLIN: Studies in Polish Jewry: Vol 31
Embassy of the Republic of Poland, London
Witold Pilecki volunteered to go into Auschwitz so he could learn about conditions there. On his escape he passed the information to the Western democracies.
We will show the film Pilecki by Mirosław Krzyszkowski, followed by a wider conversation about Auschwitz camp between Professors Mary Fulbrook and Antony Polonsky, renowned specialists in history of Jews in Eastern Europe.
The date has been chosen close to Holocaust Remembrance Day, which was established on the day Auschwitz was liberated.
This screening is organised in collaboration with JW3 and the Institute for Polish-Jewish Studies as part of the conference programme launching POLIN: Studies in Polish Jewry, Vol. 31: Poland and Hungary – Jewish Realities Compared – on Tuesday 29th January and open to the public.
