Made in Prague Bonus film: The Good Driver Smetana (Dobrý řidič Smetana)
As a special bonus of the Made in Prague festival the Czech Centre is offering
to all the visitors of its website free streaming of The Good Driver Smetana (Dobrý řidič Smetana). The bizarre case of the Olomouc bus driver Roman Smetana, who was given a jail sentence in 2012 for drawing antennae on politicians’ heads on pre-election posters, caused an uproar in Czech society and raised questions about the Czech legal system and judicial mechanisms. It also captured the attention of filmmakers Vít Klusák and Filip Remunda who documented the case for their TV series Czech Journal. Fascinated by Smetana’s personality and his continuous fight, they returned to the subject to capture Smetana serving his 100 days in prison in this feature length documentary. (CC)
